What is a Vibration Plate?

A vibration plate, or platform, is a machine that you stand, sit, or lie on while the plate vibrates. This is known as whole-body vibration.

Many of these machines come with resistance bands that you can use, while on the vibration plate to strengthen your muscles.

You can also perform exercises, like squats, knee lifts, leg extensions, abdominal crunches, etc… while on the machine. Several health benefits come with whole-body vibrations.

What is a vibration plate? It is a machine that many people are now using in place of cardio exercise (when done on the T-Zone Vibration Platform with the new Magical Mat), or to enhance the benefits that exercise provides.

Many people are using the vibration plate to help treat pain. It eases pain caused by arthritis, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis. I use it to treat my knee pain. Works better than anything else I’ve tried. I use it for 5 minutes before my cardio and strength training sessions. Then I use it for the last 10 minutes of my workout routine. What Does a Vibration Plate Do?

The vibrations transmit energy throughout your body. The vibrations force your muscles to contract and relax dozens of times every second. You may feel like you are expending energy. Using a vibration platform for 10 minutes a day, can:

If it has been years since you’ve been active, then use the vibration plate for 10 minutes a day for 2 weeks, then add on some cardio and strength training exercises. The vibration plate will “warm you up” before exercising. After the 2 weeks, continue to use the plate for 10 minutes before your regular workout routine.

Although some people may use the plate in place of cardio, I do not recommend that. You need a good 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week. I get it… 30 minutes is a long time for a lot of people. Nobody says that you have to start with 30 minutes. You can break it up into 5- or 10-minute segments throughout your day. Or you can start with 5 minutes a day. Use the vibration plate to better prepare you for more strenuous exercises.

Consult with your doctor if you have any of the above conditions, before using a vibration plate.

I understand the benefits and can see how it can enhance a workout. Do you have a list of top exercises to perform on the machine…you mention crunches, any others? Thank you

      Sure. You could place your hands on the platform and do push-ups. You can also do planks. Squats are common on this machine, as well as lunges. You could lunge onto the platform or off of the platform. You can lie on your side and do leg raises, too. The poles can be used to simulate rowing or skiing. Poles are great for balancing exercises. This machine is great for improving balance. 

      I plan on putting together a video series of exercises that you can do on the platform. Check back on my website for them in a month or so.

    • The vibration platform does have many benefits. Especially for people who have been living sedentary lifestyles. It is important to buy one that is high-quality. The better quality ones use specific vibration patterns. T-Zone’s vibration plate uses oscillation in the vibration pattern. This makes for a more secure stance while on the machine.

      To make sure you don’t overuse the device, set a timer before you get on it. Only use it for 15 minutes. If a person can use it as a way to get warmed up, instead of as a way to get in shape, it should help to decrease the chances of over-use.
