A vibration plate, or platform, is a machine that you stand, sit, or lie on while the plate vibrates. This is known as whole-body vibration.
Many of these machines come with resistance bands that you can use, while on the vibration plate to strengthen your muscles.
You can also perform exercises, like squats, knee lifts, leg extensions, abdominal crunches, etc… while on the machine. Several health benefits come with whole-body vibrations.
What is a vibration plate? It is a machine that many people are now using in place of cardio exercise (when done on the T-Zone Vibration Platform with the new Magical Mat), or to enhance the benefits that exercise provides.
Many people are using the vibration plate to help treat pain. It eases pain caused by arthritis, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis. I use it to treat my knee pain. Works better than anything else I’ve tried. I use it for 5 minutes before my cardio and strength training sessions. Then I use it for the last 10 minutes of my workout routine. While on the machine, I do upper and lower body strength training exercises, including abdominals. I have noticed a decrease in belly fat since using the machine.
What Does a Vibration Plate Do?
The whole-body vibration plate vibrates while you are on it. Most vibration plates have adjustable settings that speed up or slow down the vibrations. The vibrations transmit energy throughout your body. The vibrations force your muscles to contract and relax dozens of times every second. You may feel like you are expending energy. This is because your body naturally tries to fight back against the vibrations by stabilizing itself.
Using a vibration platform for 10 minutes a day, can:
- help with weight loss
- burn fat
- improve flexibility
- enhance blood flow
- increase lymphatic drainage
- reduce muscle soreness
- build strength
- decrease the stress hormone cortisol
- tighten skin
- reduce cellulite
- enhance the benefits of just exercise alone
The vibration plate does not take the place of exercise. Instead, it enhances the results of exercise, or it gets you ready to start an exercise program. It is an ideal tool for someone that has been living a sedentary lifestyle or for someone who is obese. The vibration plate can get you ready for cardio or strength training exercises.
If it has been years since you’ve been active, then use the vibration plate for 10 minutes a day for 2 weeks, then add on some cardio and strength training exercises. The vibration plate will “warm you up” before exercising. After the 2 weeks, continue to use the plate for 10 minutes before your regular workout routine.
Although some people may use the plate in place of cardio, I do not recommend that. You need a good 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week. I get it… 30 minutes is a long time for a lot of people. Nobody says that you have to start with 30 minutes. You can break it up into 5- or 10-minute segments throughout your day. Or you can start with 5 minutes a day. Use the vibration plate to better prepare you for more strenuous exercises.
You can do strength training exercises while on the vibration plate. In fact, it is encouraged. The HE 90 Vibration Plate from T-Zone Vibration comes with resistance bands and balancing poles.
Research has shown a 1.5% increase in bone density in people who use the plate. The plate is used by doctors to help treat osteoporosis, arthritis, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, obesity, back pain, and more.
Experts say that you shouldn’t use the plate for more than 15 minutes a day.
If you are pregnant or have any medical conditions, it is important to check with your doctor before using a vibration plate.
When choosing whether to get a vibration plate with or without handrails consider whether or not you have any balance issues. The rails can come in handy if you will be doing stand-up exercises while on your vibration plate, or if you have balance issues. The vibration plate without handrails is best for those people that will be doing exercises while seated on the machine.
Many people, like myself, perform crunches while sitting on the machine. I like using the vibration plate that does not have handrails. It allows me full range of motion around the machine. And, since I am using it to enhance my exercise routine, not replace it, the machine without the handrails is best for me.
T-Zone Vibration offers both types of vibration platforms. One with the handrails, and one without the handrails. The one without the handrails comes with balancing poles and resistance bands. It also includes the Magic Mat for a cardio session.
The Vibration Plate Helps With Lymphatic Drainage
The lymphatic system helps our body rid itself of toxins. It carries a clear liquid, called lymph, As the blood circulates around the body fluid passes from the blood into the body tissues, carrying food to the cells. This fluid collects waste products, bacteria, damaged cells, and cancer cells. Then the fluid drains back into the lymph vessels where it is transported towards lymph glands. The glands then filter the lymph, taking out any harmful products.
The lymph also contains white blood cells, called lymphocytes, which help us fight infection. The lymph eventually reaches a large vessel at the base of the neck called the thoracic duct. The thoracic duct passes the filtered lymph back into blood circulation.
The vibration plate is known to increase lymphatic drainage. In addition to ridding the body of toxins, the lymphatic system rids the body of localized fat. This is why the vibration plate helps with weight loss. It also can be used to treat swelling of the upper and lower extremities.
The vibration plate is especially good for getting rid of the localized fat around our bellies. You know, that pudge that is almost impossible to get rid of. The vibrations cause muscles that we have never worked to contract.
Side Effects of the Vibration Plate
Not everyone is a candidate for whole-body vibration. People with certain health conditions should not use the vibration plate. These conditions include:
- having a pacemaker
- being pregnant
- recovering from an operation
- acute hernia
- hip or knee replacements
- have present cancer or tumors
- neurological conditions
- acute thrombosis
- cardiovascular disease
Consult with your doctor if you have any of the above conditions, before using a vibration plate.
The vibration machine can be used too much, which can cause harmful effects on the spine. To receive the maximum benefits, only use the vibration plate for the amount of time suggested by the manufacturer’s guidelines. And, make sure you get a high-quality machine.
A vibration plate can be used to significantly enhance the benefits that you get from exercising. While it is not a replacement for exercise, it does have some beneficial qualities when used as part of your exercise routine.
Using a vibration plate for 15 minutes 3 times a week can help condition a person before engaging in an exercise plan. It will improve endurance and give strength to people that are obese or that have not been exercising regularly.
If you are interested in purchasing a vibration platform, then make sure you choose a high-quality plate. I recommend the T-Zone Vibration Plate because of it’s high-quality, and because it comes with the Magical Cardio Mat that, when used, produces the same effects as cardio exercise, in much less time. Use code ‘Maria10’ for 10% off at T-Zone Vibration.
Overall, the vibration plate is an excellent addition to a balanced workout routine. Remember to consult with your doctor before using the machine, if you have any health conditions.
